Latest Updates Shared in the Search for Savannah Guthrie’s Mother

Investigators initially released limited details about the situation inside Nancy Guthrie’s Arizona home, but later updates explained why the case quickly shifted direction. What began as a missing-person search evolved after detectives examined the residence and uncovered concerning evidence. Officials said their focus expanded from simply locating Nancy to understanding what may have occurred inside the home before her disappearance, prompting a more urgent and focused investigation.

Nancy, 84, was last seen late Saturday evening, January 31, 2026, after family members dropped her off at her Tucson-area home. Concern grew the following morning when she failed to attend church, leading relatives to check on her and contact authorities. Investigators later confirmed that blood was discovered inside the residence, though its source has not been determined.

Signs of possible forced entry were also reported, yet none of Nancy’s personal belongings — including her car, phone, and wallet — appeared to be missing, adding complexity to the case. Pima County Sheriff’s Department officials said they do not believe Nancy left on her own, noting her limited mobility and reliance on daily medication for a serious condition. Missing this medication could pose a significant health risk, increasing urgency.

Authorities have shifted from broad searches using drones and aircraft to reviewing surveillance footage, digital evidence, and community tips, while encouraging residents to check security cameras. Savannah Guthrie thanked supporters and asked for continued assistance as investigators work to bring clarity to the ongoing case.
